Solar Thermal at Balmoral Estate

Balmoral Estate wanted to introduce renewable hot water generation at the Balmoral Castle Estates Office, also known as Baile-na-coille.

The building is Grade B Listed, so any system had to be designed carefully. It needed to provide reliable hot water while respecting the character and appearance of the historic estate setting.

Following approval from Historic Scotland, 2 aes luminary solar thermal collectors were installed on the building in 2015.

The aes luminary system was chosen for its slim, lightweight design and low-profile appearance. This made it well suited to a listed building where visual impact was an important consideration.

The installation now supports renewable hot water generation while preserving the appearance of the building.
