In 1979, when renewable energy was still in its early days, our founder George Goudsmit saw the potential of solar energy to play a practical role in everyday life. What began as one of the UK’s earliest solar businesses laid the foundations for the company we are today.
Nearly 50 years later, aes renewables continues to build on that legacy, helping homes, businesses and communities feel good about their energy choices.
The photograph captures an important moment in our story. At a time when solar energy was still largely unheard of, George Goudsmit was part of the team behind Britain’s first home with a solar roof, helping show what renewable energy could become.
