The brief

Duntrodden House in Glenelg added solar thermal to support the hot water needs of its eco-friendly Highland holiday home. 

The system was planned around the property’s grass roof, natural materials and low-impact design, giving guests reliable hot water from renewable energy. 

Our approach

aes renewables installed a 3.62 kW solar thermal system using 2 aes luminary collectors. 

The collectors were fitted above the grass roof using a Renusol turf roof fixing, helping the system sit neatly with the property’s design. 

The outcome

Duntrodden House now has solar thermal in place to support its hot water needs, especially during brighter months when the holiday home is in use.

The system is expected to generate 1,538 kWh each year and can provide strong hot water support in the right conditions.
