The brief

For Radio Skye, reliable heating and power are essential. The station needed to reduce energy costs and replace an ageing heating system without disrupting broadcasts.

Downtime wasn’t an option, so the upgrade had to be planned around daily operations.

Our approach

aes renewables replaced the old heating system with a Mitsubishi Ecodan air source heat pump and pre-plumbed hot water cylinder.

To help reduce running costs, a 7.36 kWp solar PV system was installed on the roof, followed by SolarEdge battery storage to store surplus solar energy for later use.

The system includes:

  • Mitsubishi Ecodan air source heat pump
  • Pre-plumbed hot water cylinder
  • 7.36 kWp solar PV system
  • SolarEdge battery storage

The work was completed in phases so Radio Skye could stay on air throughout.

The outcome

Radio Skye now has lower-carbon heating supported by renewable electricity generated on site.
